How it works
You work out. You eat your fruits and veggies. But there’s always a few troublesome areas all of us can never quite change. SculpSure treatments help bring out the hard work you put in every day, so you can feel your best. The non-invasive, light-based technology targets and destroys treated fat cells in a simple 25 minute treatment. For good. Just natural-looking and long-lasting results. No surgery. No downtime.
How Do I prepare for my Appointment?
- Avoid direct sun exposure to the treatment area 7 days before the treatment.
- Shower or bathe the day of treatment to prepare your skin for your Sculpsure treatment. Your skin must be free of all lotions, creams and body oils.
- It’s a good idea to eat a small meal and drink 2 or 3 glasses of water before your Sculpsure treatment.
- If you have very thick hair in the treatment area, please trim or shave the areas at home before your Sculpsure treatment.
- Be sure to discuss your medical history and medications you take with your treatment provider.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications 1 week prior to your treatment as this will minimize the effectiveness of the treatment.
What to expect
When the treatment starts, initially you will feel a cooling sensation. This helps keep the skin comfortable during treatment. The cooling will be on the entire treatment, while the laser cycles on and off, raising the temperature of the fat cells. Most patients feel a deep warmth and/or tingling sensation intermittently throughout the treatment which is generally well-tolerated. After the 25-minute treatment is finished, you can resume your daily activities, as there is no post-treatment down time.
What to know for after my treatment
- You may experience mildly pink or red skin, tenderness or discomfort, swelling, tissue firmness or nodules in the treated areas. These are all expected side effects, which usually resolve without medical intervention.
- Tenderness may occur as early as the day of treatment and can last two weeks and in some clients a bit longer.
- If needed, use a cold compress and/or acetaminophen to help relieve tenderness.
- Gently massage the area twice a day for 5-10 minutes. Massage should be continued until your next treatment or for 12 weeks if you have only one treatment.
- You may resume normal daily activity including exercise immediately after your Sculpsure treatment.
- Staying hydrated and engaging in light physical activity helps mobilize the disrupted fat for processing through the lymphatic system. We encourage you to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day and take a daily walk or continue your regular exercise routine.
- Contact our office if you have any concerns about your treatment areas such as increasing tenderness or swelling several days after your treatment, or if you develop blisters, hardened areas or nodules.
Is SculpSure right for me?
SculpSure is ideal for people with trouble spots, particularly those that seem resistant to diet and exercise. The ideal candidate for SculpSure™ is an individual who holds excess fat in their abdomen and flank area but is near their ideal body weight. SculpSure is not affected by skin-type so can be used on anyone. As each patient is different and may have different areas of concern, the SculpSure treatment is tailored for each individual. Up to four flat applicators are situated in a variety of configurations and allows treatment to target multiple areas all at once. If you think of SculpSure as body contouring and shaping procedure, it makes sense that someone who has followed a proper diet and exercise regimen but is struggling to get rid of stubborn fat would be highly satisfied with the results of SculpSure™!
How many treatments do I need?
Every patient is different. Your treatment provider will develop a customized treatment plan to meet your desired goals. Each treatment will remove between 20 and 25% of fat in the area being treated and many patients are satisfied with their result after just one treatment. However, additional treatments may be performed to achieve the desire result. Your results will be assessed at a follow-up appointment, during which time you can be reevaluated for additional treatments.
What are the risks & Side effects?
SculpSure™ does not cause any damage to the dermal tissue. After the treatment is completed, some mild swelling and tenderness or a bruised feeling are all common. Occasionally, some mild firmness in the treated fat can develop but will subside over subsequent weeks. Any tenderness will typically go away after a week or two. The recovery from SculpSure™ is self-limiting, meaning you can return to your normal daily activities, including exercise, as soon as you feel you’re ready!
