What to know before my treatment.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure, self tanners and tanning beds 3 weeks before each treatment. Use sunblock with SPF 50+ on areas to be treated that are exposed to the sun before and after treatment.
- Pregnant women should wait until after delivery before proceeding with any laser services.
- Do not take Accutane for 6 months prior to treatment.
- Must be off any antibiotics or photosensitive medications for 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Discontinue Retin-A products 1 week prior to your treatment.
- Stop waxing, abrasive scrubs and microdermabrasion treatments 2-4 weeks prior.
- Let us know if you have a history of cold sores- you may need a prescription for Valtrex or Famvir to begin the day before.
What to expect after the treatment
You will experience some redness, swelling, or tightness to the treated area, which usually lessens within a few hours of the treatment. The skin may often have a pinkish tone for 2 to 4 days. A series of treatments at 3 to 6 week intervals is recommended to achieve the desired results. The “fractional” treatment of the skin creates seamless, radiant skin without the unwanted side effects associated with other skin resurfacing technology.
